Comedy , Eric Scarboro , Interview
After starting stand-up in the early nineties, Eric Scarboro quickly gained a reputation both as an anarchic comic and a successful promoter of his many nights across the North East. But, after a serious car accident that left him with a broken back, Scarboro departed the comedy industry and set up the Sensational Independent Wrestling […]

Australian Comic , Bec Hill , Comedy , Interview , London
Bec Hill began comedy at the age of 18 in Adelaide, Australia. Five years on and two critically acclaimed Fringe shows later, the comic now resides in London, half way across in world from where she started out doing stand-up. But, as she’ll have told you if you went to see her 2010 Fringe show ‘Bec Hill Didn’t Want To Play Your Stupid Game Anyway’, she hasn’t grown up one little bit. Andrew Dipper caught up with Bec Hill to talk about life as a comic, her time in Edinburgh this past August, and why she loves pop-ups and props.

Comedy , Durham Gala Theatre , Isy Suttie , Love lost in the british retail industry , Review , Somerfields
If you like your comedy with a musical edge then look no further than Isy Suttie. It’s a one woman and her guitar type of show. She takes you through songs about trips to Ikea with your partner, a unique and dark version of ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’ and an unlikely medieval love song about a Slovenian prince and English maiden – I don’t know where she gets these ideas either.

Barry Dodds , Charlie Chuck , Comedy , John Smith , Phil Kay , St Dominic's , The Grinning Idiot
The Grinning Idiot prides itself on presenting more alternative comedians than most clubs in the region – and if it means a few bemused faces at the end of the night then so be it. Having both Phil Kay and Charlie Chuck on your line-up is asking for mayhem. But that is what The Grinning Idiot’s promoter John Smith did, and, even after the show at St Dominic’s Catholic Club, the night’s MC had no regrets.

Comedy , Gary Delaney , John Scott , John Whale , Nick Cranston , Review , The Barnes , The Grinning Idiot
Having never previously been to a Grinning Idiot comedy night I didn’t really know what to expect, but I not disappointed. The event was held upstairs in The Barnes in Sunderland, and proved to be a nice little venue that really added to the feel of the evening.
