A new comedy play about two bumbling comics in a Tibetan Temple opens tonight in Seaton Delaval.

Tango in Tibet  sees Wellman and Spoke end up in the Tibetan Temple, ruled over by the evil Lord Wushan, when their tour bus breaks down.

The comedy, which contains music and songs, was written by Blyth-based Richy Wilson, who appears alongside Emma Friel, Tracy Clough and Matthew Wilson.

Wilson told Giggle Beats that the show is inspired by his comedy heroes.

“Tango in Tibet is my homage to the comedy of Morecombe & Wise, Laurel & Hardy, and Abbott & Costello.”

“It’s fast-paced, madcap fun, and it features a cast of very talented performers from the local area playing, amongst others, yetis, Russian villains, and supernatural elements.”

Hosted by the Seaton Delaval Arts Centre, Tango in Tibet is produced by Wave Theatre, an amateur theatre group based in Northumberland.

The group say: “warning: this show may contain yetis!”

Tickets: £8 (£6.50 concs.)

Tango in Tibet runs from 17-19 September 2014 at the Seaton Delaval Arts Centre. Tickets are available online or from the box office.
