Newcastle’s City Hall has announced its winter programme, with appearances from some of Britain’s biggest comedy names.

Starting from November, the venue will host five of the country’s best-loved comics in its 2135-seater hall.

Kicking off the season is everyone’s favourite pedant Jon Richardson, who brings his new show Nidiot to City Hall on Saturday 1 November. Taking a break from chairing his team on 8 Out of 10 Cats, and its Countdown spin-off, Jon is determined to become a laid-back, for his own sake, and that of the world at large. Can he leave his ardent misanthropy behind, and just let that dirty plate lie in the sink a little while longer? Probably not, but there’s bound to be plenty of laughs to be had at his attempts.

Remember, remember, the fifth of November. Especially if you’re a Lee Mack fan. Having added a string of extra dates due to popular demand, Lee Mack heads to City Hall for five nights with his new show Hit The Road Mack. From Wednesday 5 to Saturday 8 November, and again on Thursday 18 December, the Not Going Out star performs his first stand-up show in four years.

On Monday 17 November, Chris Ramsey pops back up north with his show The Most Dangerous Man on Saturday Morning Television. Following a sell-out spring run, the star of BBC Two’s Hebburn and Celebrity Juice regular describes exactly what happens when you say a rude word on live telly before the watershed.

City Hall welcomes another local-boy-done-good on Tuesday 25 November, when Ross Noble returns to the venue for a five night run of his show Tangentleman. Expect flights of fancy galore, as Ross stretches his imagination and nimble wits for your entertainment.

Friday 5 December sees another notable comedy surrealist take centre-stage in An Evening with Noel Fielding. One half of The Mighty Boosh, and star of Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy, Noel assembles a barmy mixture of stand-up, animation and music in his first live tour in five years. He won’t be going it alone however; he’ll be getting a little help from some of his old friends, including The Moon, and Fantasy Man.

The big names continue to roll into City Hall in the New Year, with master of blue Roy Chubby Brown, the charmingly offensive Jimmy Carr, Black BooksDylan Moran and one-liner-toting Mock the Week favourite Milton Jones all performing their brand new shows in 2015.
