Preview: Christmas with The Suggestibles
North East improv troupe The Suggestibles have announced a series of festive shows throughout December.
Regulars at The Stand Comedy Club in Newcastle, The Suggestibles have earned a reputation as one of the best loved improv groups in the North East, and in addition to their monthly slots at the High Bridge club – coming up next on 19 November – the group will be performing several special Christmas shows next month, before welcoming in 2016 with a New Year’s Eve extravaganza.
Kicking off the festive season on Thursday 10 December at The Stand, Newcastle, The Suggestibles will perform their famous 2 hour improvised comedy show. With the audience supplying the suggestions, The Suggestibles promise off-the-cuff and off-the-wall sketches, skits and songs. Tickets are £10/£7 NUS and are available from The Stand Box Office on 0191 300 9700 or www.thestand.co.uk.
On Thursday 17 December, the troupe will perform their improvised panto at Northern Stage. A wildly irreverent and un-traditional panto, with characters, plot and songs based on audience suggestions, The Suggestibles’ Impro Pantso will wreak hilarious havoc on Northern Stage’s Wizard of Oz set. Strictly for naughty big kids! Tickets are £17 and are available from Northern Stage Box Office on 0191 230 5151 or www.northernstage.co.uk.
There’s another chance to catch the Impro Pantso on Saturday 19 December at The Cumberland Arms. Tickets are £17 and are available from www.thesuggestibles.com.
Finally, on New Year’s Eve, The Suggestibles’ New Year’s Eve Ding-Dong! will take place at The Cumberland Arms, taking comedy fans right through to the wee hours of 2016. All the ad hoc comedy fun you’d expect, plus dancing untill 2am, free hot dogs and bubbly at midnight. Tickets are £25 and are available from www.thesuggestibles.com.
