A new live comedy panel show is coming to the Alphabetti Theatre in Newcastle.

Created by Alphabetti’s founder Ali Pritchard, and hosted by Lewis Gray, A Quest To Stardom will bring some of the comedy circuit’s best new talents and pit them against each other for one goal, to become a star.

Last month’s pilot, featuring team captains David Callaghan [pictured] and Rahul Kohli, provided an evening with unabashed silliness as the two teams acted, drew, joked, and insulted their way to success.

The newly installed Alphabetti Theatre (The Basement of 16 New Bridge Street West, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 8AW), provides the perfect backdrop as Newcastle’s only intimate bespoke fringe theatre.

This month’s show features team captains Callaghan and Sammy Dobson, who’ll be joined by Amy Gledhill, Fernando, John Whale, and Hal Branson, with Lewis Gray once again taking on hosting duties.

David Callaghan said: “It’s a hugely fun show to be a part of. I grew up loving things like The 99p Challenge and Shooting Stars so we’ve tried to recreate that level of fun, creativity, and anarchy.

“Last month was a roller coaster of an evening seeing me lose in the dying seconds due to an ill-advised improvised rap about Vienettas. Something which I’m still annoyed about.

“The lineup this month is spectacular, we’ve got Stand [comedy club] regulars, internationally touring comedians, award winners, and [Giggle Beats New Act Of The Month] Sammy Dobson.

“This time victory will be mine.”

A Quest To Stardom takes place at the Alphabetti Theatre on Friday 29th May. The bar opens at 6.30pm, the show starts at 8pm. Tickets are £3 in advance, £5 on the door.
