Phil Ellis is bringing his Edinburgh Comedy Award-winning kids’ show to Manchester this weekend.

Funz and Gamez was the cult hit of this year’s Fringe, scooping the prestigious panel prize after the judges were inundated with requests to see the show from other comics.

The kids’ show, which also stars James Meehan, Mick Ferry and Will Duggan and Tom Short, is coming to The Comedy Store on Deansgate this Sunday ahead of a run at London’s Soho Theatre over Christmas.

Ellis told Giggle Beats: “Since Edinburgh, we’ve only done the complete show once and a handful of 10-minute segments for a few showcases and a Radio 4 show.

“We really wanted to do the complete show in Manchester before heading down to London for our Soho Theatre Christmas run, and The Store have been kind enough to let us put Funz and Gamez on at their Manchester venue at very short notice.

“There’ll be a few new bits here and there but, generally speaking, it’ll be the same show as the one that people saw and fell in love with in Edinburgh… Not really sure if you can fall in love with a show, but I thought it sounded more powerful than ‘liked’.

“We’re all dead excited, except for Uncle Mick, who was ‘clinically dead’ for almost five minutes last Friday afternoon.

“I’m also looking forward to performing the show for kids again, as most of the showcases have been adult audiences, which is also great but nowhere near as much fun as when whole families are in attendance.”
