BBC Radio 1 is to stream a comedy gig live from the Edinburgh Fringe.

Aiming to showcase young, upcoming talent appearing at the festival, the show will air live on Monday 11 August.

Broadcasting from the BBC’s pop-up venue in Edinburgh, Radio 1 presenters Phil Taggart and Alice Levine will host the two-hour showcase as part of their regular show, which airs from 10pm to midnight.

Dane Baptiste, Luisa Omielan, Suzi Ruffell and star of BBC Three’s Impractical Jokers Joel Dommett have already been booked to perform, with more acts to be announced.

The show will also feature a “very special live and uncut performance” from veteran Radio 1 host Scott Mills, and his sidekick Chris Stark.

As well as a live broadcast on the station, there will also be a video stream available via BBC television’s Red Button service, and on the BBC’s YouTube channel.

The BBC says: “The two-hour comedy spectacular will take place in front of a live audience and feature performances from the best in stand-up from the year’s most exciting acts.”
