Latitude review: Vikki Stone

Sandwiched in between Tommy Tiernan and Mark Watson, musical comic Vikki Stone’s got a bit of a raw deal in the Comedy Arena at Latitude.

You get the impression Stone would be more suited to the more intimate Cabaret Tent, where she was two years ago, as her act is hugely entertaining without being the laugh-a-minute joyride that Tiernan was before her.

The former Fubar presenter opens with a piece of stand-up to warm the crowd up before launching into a series of songs about celebrity culture, feminism, big cocks and her undying love for Phillip Schofield.

There’s some unforgettable imagery in there, as she begs The Schofe to wear her like a glove, and her wild facial expressions, amplified on Latitude’s huge screens, add another layer to her jaunty tunes.

As skilled on the piano as she is on the mic, Stone’s performance deserves more than a polite round-of-applause between songs – but that’s all she gets today.
