Gavin Webster’s Northumbrian Assembly might be coming to an end at The Stand later this month – but the Geordie comedian already has a new show in the pipeline.

Webster has hosted a weekly Sunday show at The Stand in Newcastle since the club opened on High Bridge in October 2011.

But in a programming shake-up by the venue, Northumbrian Assembly will come to an end this month and, on Monday 6 January, The Gavin Webster Comedy Show will begin.

According to Webster, the new monthly show combines “dark observations, verbal crash bang wallops, short sardonic songs and quick fire obstreperous one liners.”

It’s also a showcase for local up and coming comedians. Lee Kyle and Carl Hutchinson play the opening night, with more North East names lined up for the first Monday of every month.

Webster’s new show will replace Steffen Peddie’s Chat Show Thing, which has now been moved to the last Sunday of the month.

The final Northumbrian Assembly takes place on Sunday 22 December at 7pm.

The Gavin Webster Comedy Show launches at The Stand Comedy Club in Newcastle on Monday 6 January. Tickets are £6, £5 for concessions or £1 for Stand Together members. Click to buy.
