The Comedy Store Announces Show Time Changes
For the first time in eleven years, The Comedy Store in Manchester will change the times of its Saturday shows to cater for an increasing demand for two headline performances.
The Best in Stand Up shows at The Comedy Store in Manchester – which was named Best Venue in the North in the Chortle Awards at the beginning of February – have always been at 8pm and 11.30pm every Saturday. However, the changing nature of audiences going to see comedy at the weekend has prompted the venue to bring both shows forward to 7pm and 9.30pm respectively.
Don Ward, founder of The Comedy Store, said: “We continue to exceed year-on-year ticket sales which is in line with the industry boom we’re experiencing in comedy. Typically, the earlier show was for those people who wanted to see a gig before going on for a night out. However, things have changed since we first opened the venue including people going out and staying out later.
“Comedy is much more accessible than it once was and by making this change it means two sets of audiences can come and see The Best in Stand Up and then go on for a night out, rather than it being a case of one or the other.”
Among the names set to perform in the newly aligned The Best in Stand Up shows are stars of Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow Hal Cruttenden (21st May), Justin Moorhouse and Alun Cochrane (both 28th May).
The Best in Stand Up will operate at the amended time from Saturday 21st May, and audiences are advised to book in advance as many dates leading up to the date have already sold out.
