That’s a wrap! BBC2 series Hebburn concludes filming…
BBC2’s new six-part sitcom Hebburn has concluded filming, creator Jason Cook has revealed.
Cook, who was born in the South Tyneside town, announced the news on his Twitter account yesterday afternoon, posting: “Just starting on last scene of entire shoot. Barely keeping it together. There’s going to be teary beers after this!”
He later added: “That is a wrap. Heart in bits. Crying folk everywhere. Mainly me.”
Giggle Beats exclusively revealed back in February that Hebburn, which was first presented at the Salford Sitcom Showcase in October 2011, had been given the green light for a full series.
Filming then began on location in South Tyneside, before the cast – which includes Cook, Vic Reeves and Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Chris Ramsey – transferred to their Manchester base for a four-week stint in May.
Speaking earlier this year about the show, Cook said: “There is a very particular sense of humour in the Geordies. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, and we have a way of handling bad news – maybe because we get a lot of it! – so I’m hoping to show the nation that.
“We’ve got such a great team working on Hebburn, and I’ll be working with some of my comedy heroes, too; so the pressure is on to not let them, or the people of the North East, down.
“It’s going to be a riot.”
Hebburn will air on BBC2 in September.
