Stewart Lee has added hundreds of stand-up dates to his 2013 diary – including an autumn tour of the UK, and a return to the Edinburgh Fringe.

Lee is currently road-testing material at a series of low-key work-in-progress shows in London ahead of a new show in Edinburgh.

His Fringe run begins on 3 August where he will return to The Stand for his latest pun-tastic show, Much A-Stew About Nothing, before going on tour in the autumn.

The autumn tour begins on Tuesday 10 September at a show in Kingston, and closes with a 14-week run at the Leicester Square Theatre in London.

Lee is hoping the shows will help him write three hours of new material for series three of Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle, due to air on BBC2 in 2014.

But he was keen to clarify: “The shows will not be 3 hrs long.

“I will do different things on different nights in 25/30 minute segments. Do not go on Twitter saying it seemed disjointed. It should do and will.”

North East comedy fans can rejoice; Lee has two dates in the region – on 10 and 11 October at the Journal Tyne Theatre, Newcastle.

He also has two shows nearby at the Salford Lowry, as well as dates in Harrogate, Bradford and Liverpool.

Tickets are on sale now.
