Sod The Tories gets podcast release
Comedian John Scott is to release a podcast based on his show at the Newcastle Stand.
Scott hosts Sod The Tories, a topical stand-up night that sees himself and four other acts chew the fat over the week’s news.
And the Scottish comedian, who now lives in Newcastle, has edited two of the shows down to release online next month.
In an article for Giggle Beats today, Scott said: “I’m releasing the show as a podcast because – having done the show live – I’m beginning to realise there’s an audience and perhaps even a need for this type of comedy elsewhere.
“I don’t want to go down the now clichéd avenue of the middle-aged comic complaining that comedy has lost its direction and that too much stand up is of the everyman, anodyne, non-opinionated variety.
“There is obviously a huge audience for this type of thing and who am I to say the nation has it wrong.
“But I think a small sea of change is starting to happen.”
Seymour Mace, Tony Jameson, Vladimir McTavish and John Whale feature in episode one, while Andy Fury, Katherine Tanney, Cal Halbert and the returning Whale complete the line-up for episode two.
The hour-long podcasts will be released on iTunes and The Stand’s website next month.
