A comedy night based on Set List: Stand-Up Without A Net is taking place in Newcastle next week.

On Tuesday 4 February Long Live Comedy, based upstairs at the Dog and Parrot in Newcastle, will host Shit List’, the open-mic night’s version of the hit Sky Atlantic show.

The show sees 11 local comedians, including Matt Reed [pictured], Lee Kyle and George Zach, each perform a new five-minute routine based on suggestions by the audience.

And musical comedian Stephen Frizzle, who organised the night, says he is looking forward to seeing how the show will pan out.

The former Giggle Beats New Act of the Month said: “The energy you get on Set List is fantastic.

“To see professional comedians such as Robin Williams or Tim Minchin out of their element with topics they’ve never seen before is fantastic.

“We’ve got some brilliant MCs and some local acts for the night. It’s either going to be brilliant or utterly terrible; either way, it should be a giggle!”

And if that’s not enough to entice you, the best audience suggestion for a stand-up topic will win a bottle of wine.

Long Live Comedy was founded in 2006 by Peter Thompson, Callum Cramb and Al Dawes.

The likes of Sarah Millican, Chris Ramsey and Carl Hutchinson have all cut their teeth at Long Live since its inception, and Reginald D Hunter made a surprise appearance there in 2011.

Shit List takes place upstairs at The Dog and Parrot, Newcastle, on Tuesday 4 February. Doors open at 8.30pm and the show starts at 9pm. Entry is £2. Click for more information.

UPDATE: Seymour Mace (Ideal, Hebburn) has now been added to the bill.
