Ray Peacock goes solo in Whitley Bay
One half of the hit double-act Peacock and Gamble is to make a headline appearance on Tyneside this weekend.
Stand-up Ray Peacock, who was recent nominated in the 2014 Chortle awards, will headline Creased Comedy’s show at The Berkeley Tavern in Whitley Bay on Friday 11 April.
Described by The Independent as “unrestrained silliness, uninhibited childishness”, Peacock has provided regular warm up for the likes of Russell Howard’s Good News Series 1-6, Red Dwarf, Not Going Out, Miranda, The IT Crowd and French & Saunders.
In 2007 he began hosting The Ray Peacock Podcast on iTunes, alongside Ed Gamble and Raji James. It ran for four seasons, including a series of unforgettable live shows hosted by Ray.
The Peacock and Gamble show was launched two years later, which Ray co-hosted. Released every Monday, it won popular and critical acclaim, with The Guardian describing it as “35 minutes of pure gold”.
Last year, Ray presented and curated a special three-hour broadcast for Radio 4 Extra, exploring the work and life of Les Dawson, Listening to Les, in which he interviewed Ken Dodd, Neil Innes and Lee Mack amongst others.
And Peacock is currently preparing for his solo Edinburgh 2014 show, Here Comes Trouble.
Organiser Si Buglass said: “Ray is one of my favourite acts, and I’m sure the Whitley Bay crowd will love him as much as I do. I’m looking forward to this gig more than is normal!
“I’ve been a huge fan since hearing his podcasts back in 2008 and I can’t wait to have him perform at our club.”
Support on the night comes from Sam Gore & Will Duggan.
Ray Peacock comes to the Berkeley Tavern on Friday 11 April. Tickets are £10 and are available to buy online or by calling 0191 252 7755.
