Jo Caulfield will help launch the Giggle Beats Comedy Quiz in 2014.

Caulfield, a regular guest on Mock The Week, Have I Got News For You and Never Mind The Buzzcocks, will headline the quiz when it takes up residency at The Stand in Newcastle on Sunday 5 January.

The panel show star, described by The Observer as “one of the finest female comics at work”, will round off the night with a stand-up set.

Giggle Beats editor Andrew Dipper said: “I’m chuffed to bits that Jo has agreed to headline our first quiz at The Stand.

“Jo was the first ever comedian to play the Newcastle Stand when it opened in 2011, so it feels fitting that she’s launching our residency at the same venue. We can’t wait.”

Caulfield is one of the most successful and instantly recognisable comedians in the UK.

A familiar face on TV, she is also the star of her own critically acclaimed Radio 4 comedy show, It’s That Jo Caulfield Again.

Caulfield has been nominated as ‘Funniest Woman’ (LAFTA Awards), ‘Best Female Stand-Up’ (Chortle Awards) and named one of the 100 greatest stand-ups by Channel 4.

In a 2012 review, Giggle Beats heaped praise on her thoroughly enjoyable, slightly twisted take on modern life, writing: “Caulfield has a strain of jet black comedy running through her material, deploying it strategically and eliciting loud guffaws from an appreciative crowd.

“It is a potent weapon, elevating parts of her routine into golden territory.”
