Stand-up Omid Djalili is back in the North East next month – for two work-in-progress shows.

Djalili is performing at The Stand in Newcastle on Sunday 14 April – with shows scheduled ‘back to back’ at 5pm and 8.30pm.

The Stand is also hosting its Newcastle Kids Comedy Club earlier that day.

Djalili, widely regarded as one of the subversive stand-ups around, is currently gearing up for a month-long residency in London.

He follows a long list of comedians who have used the venue to develop new material.

Sarah Millican, Daniel Kitson, Kevin Bridges, Alan Davies and Frankie Boyle have all visited Newcastle ahead of national tours.

And more are set to follow in their footsteps, including political stand-up Mark Thomas, who is testing out brand new policy ideas on Sunday 31 March.

Like Djalili, Thomas also has an afternoon show. Mark Thomas: Manifesto starts at 5pm.
