Norwich premiere for Alpha Papa
Over 7000 Alan Partridge fans campaigned for change in what Partridge co-creator Armando Iannucci dubbed the ‘Norwich Spring’ – and now it’s official: Alpha Papa will hold its premiere in Norwich.
It was announced today that, following the online campaign, Steve Coogan will host the world-first in East Anglia on Wednesday 24 July.
He will then travel to a second screening in London’s Leicester Square later that night.
Coogan broke the news in character this afternoon, as Partridge said: “You can imagine how hurt and litigious I felt when people said I was planning to debut my movie in London instead of Norwich – or that I’d allowed my head to be turned by the prospect of big city fame.
“Any suggestion I’ve hastily cobbled together the lunchtime Norwich screening in response to a local Twitter campaign will be met with the full force of the law.”
The film, which was partially shot in Norwich itself, is out on 7 August.
