Surreal new comedy night opens in Manchester
A new comedy night is to open its doors in Manchester next month.
December 16 will see the first outing of Château le Bomb at The Castle Hotel in the Northern Quarter.
At Château le Bomb audiences will get an insight into how some of the best alternative comedians on the circuit go about crafting new jokes, as comics are given 3 minutes in which to find the funny in their material. The format for each show will also include interactive games, videos, illustrations and historical knowledge.
The inaugural show will be opened by 2015 Chortle Student Comedy Awards runner-up Liam Pickford, with acts up against the clock including Footstool, Jo D’arcy, Tom Little and David Callaghan.
The next two installments of Château le Bomb will take place on 20 January and 16 February next year.
The Château is the first night from Delightful Sausage; a collection of alt-comics who have banded together to put on new and experimental comedy entertainment in the North West.
MC Chris Cantrill is a new comedian to the Manchester circuit, who this year took his first show Welcome to Tiddleminster to the Edinburgh Fringe.
Cantrill said: “We’re chuffed to the gills to bring a new type of comedy night to Manchester, giving audiences a chance to see the level of work which goes into developing new jokes. Plus my parents are downsizing to a death-nest so we have a ton of heirlooms* to give away as prizes.”
*Current definition of ‘heirlooms’ includes a little brass boot, some Boglins and a bag of animal teeth (species TBC).
Tickets are £3 and available from wegottickets.com.
