HMV hosts comedy signings
Newcastle’s HMV store is to host signings by several Tyneside comedy stars.
South Shields comic Chris Ramsey and two of the creative team behind Viz will both be conducting meet-and-greet sessions at the Eldon Square store next month.
Ramsey will appear at HMV on Friday 4 December at 6pm to meet fans and sign copies of his latest DVD All Growed Up.
Following an extended nationwide tour with his brand-new stand up show, Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Ramsey returned home to the North East to record the live show at Newcastle’s Tyne Theatre and Opera House.
Ramsey said of the show: “It’s about getting older, finding yourself, taking responsibility, realising you are no longer a child and all of the other terrifying realisations that come with being dragged kicking and screaming into modern adulthood.”
All Growed Up is released on 30th November, and also features Ramsey’s Edinburgh-nominated 2011 show Offermation.
On Saturday 5 December at 12pm Simon Thorp and Graham Drury, two of Viz magazine’s current editorial team, will be signing copies of the latest Viz annual The Otter’s Pocket.
Created in Newcastle by brothers Simon and Chris Donald, Viz has been on British newsagents’ shelves for over thirty-five years with its irreverent mix of childish cartoons, sharp satire and foul language.
The Viz team have been hauled over the coals by the United Nations, questioned by Scotland Yard’s anti-terrorist branch and exhibited in the Tate Gallery.
