Stockton comedy club Catch 22 are to launch a new gong show next month.

The club’s first Beat The Gong will take place on Friday 11 March at Stockton’s ARC theatre, with Danny McLoughlin on hosting duties.

Beat The Gong will see up to 12 new comics take their first steps on the comedy ladder, with the audience deciding who makes it through their five minutes set without being struck off by the gong. Those who complete their set are then in with a chance of winning the show.

Peter Vincent of promoters Ten Feet Tall said: “We work with more big names than you can shake a stick at, and have enjoyed some top nights at ARC over the last few years with Lee Evans, Jack Dee, Sarah Millican, Alan Carr, Michael McIntyre and Jason Manford to name just a few.

“But Beat the Gong is always a favourite date in the diary. John Bishop started out at a gig in Manchester just like this, and that’s the beauty of it all really.

“You literally never know what you’re going to expect up on that stage, and you just might be discovering your new favourite comic before they go on to shine on the much bigger stages.

“Danny McLoughlin is one of our favourite MC’s, he’ll be keeping the laughs flowing all night long, and we can’t wait to see what happens on the night.”

Beat The Gong starts at 8pm. Tickets are £7.50 and are available from the ARC Box Office on 01642 525 199 or www.arconline.co.uk.
