Romantic comedy series I Want My Wife Back, starring Ben Miller, has begun filming this week.

Alongside Ben Miller, Caroline Catz (Doc Martin, DCI Banks) and Jan Francis (Just Good Friends, Bad Girls) lead the cast through one man’s quest to win back his wife.

Murray (Miller) is shocked when his wife Bex (Catz) walks out on their marriage on her 40th birthday.

The series follows his attempts to find out why she has left him and how he can win her back… though it’s less a journey than a floundering stumble in the dark towards the prize of returning his life to something approaching normality.

Friends, family and colleagues are only too ready to offer advice to Murray about what he should do, and each week sees him adopt a new strategy to achieve his goal.

Ben Miller said: “I feel incredibly lucky to be back in the BBC comedy fold, playing the incredibly unlucky hero of I Want My Wife Back. With Mainstreet at the helm and Mark Bussell and Justin Sbresni on script, this truly feels like a match made in heaven.”

Chris Sussman said: “It’s a very modern farce with a great cast, and I can’t wait to see it on TV. The writers do a brilliant job of putting Ben Miller down a hole and then watching him painfully trying to crawl his way out…”

Written and produced by Mark Bussell and Justin Sbresni (The Worst Week Of My Life), I Want My Wife Back is a co-production between Mainstreet Pictures and Busby Productions.

The director is Paul Norton Walker (Boy Meets Girl) and the executive producers are Sally Haynes and Laura Mackie. BBC commissioning editor is Chris Sussman.

Stewart Wright (People Like Us, Love And Marriage), Kenneth Collard (Cuckoo), Susannah Fielding (Pramface), Peter Wight (Early Doors, Hot Fuzz) and Cariad Lloyd (Cardinal Burns) also star.

I Want My Wife Back will air on BBC One in 2016.
