Musical comedy to debut at The Customs House this summer
The writers of local comedies Beer Monsters, Worlds Apart, Bored Stiff and Ted Nasty’s Park Bench Of Mild Surprise are returning to The Customs House in South Shields with a brand new show.
Debuting on Tuesday 30th August, Assault On The Tyne Comedy Jam offers a blend of comedy and music in “a format staggeringly comparable to that of America’s long running, star making hit show Saturday Night Live”, according to organisers Dale Meeks, Wayne Miller and Iain Cunnigham. “Only this isn’t from New York and it doesn’t star Dan Aykroyd or Chevy Chase.”
With sketches and live music from local bands like Shake Ya Tailfeather, Assault On The Tyne Comedy Jam will also feature special guests from comedy, music and magic to be announced.
Wayne Miller explained: “We are at various stages of talks with lots of people who could join the bill as special guests but we can’t announce anyone until they’ve signed on the dotted line.”
Dale Meeks, fellow organiser and a former Emmerdale cast member, added: “We are all massive fans of Saturday Night Live and the way it is designed and performed. The list of stars that have been in that show is nothing short of incredible and we are determined to get something like that going annually in the North East.”
