Comedy Dine With Me?
North East comedy fans will get the chance to tickle their tastebuds at a new show on Tyneside next week.
Hosted by comedian Steve Drayton, Mr Drayton’s Dinner Date is the latest addition to the Newcastle Stand’s ever-expanding comedy menu.
The panel show, which debuts at 1pm on Saturday 31 August, sees guest from the comedy circuit chew the fat over their all-time heroes.
And at the same time, punters can enjoy silver service and a unique food menu devised especially for the show.
Host Mr Drayton explains: “Dinner Date is part chat, part panel, with elements of quiz.
“Although it’s nothing like University Challenge, there may be a starter for ten – depends how many people order one, really.
“You can have chat with chips, recourse with ravioli and laughs with liver and onion.
“Elbows off the table.”
Dinner Date was devised by former Viz editor Alex Collier.
And Collier – who also cooked up The Stand’s Fuckwits show – says that his latest project is “perfect” for the Newcastle venue.
He said: “I’m really excited to be bringing this idea to The Stand.
“The venue brings the North East the best live comedy, and serves up the best food, so it makes perfect sense to figure out a way of combining the two into a show.”
Comedians Chris Stokes and Damian Clark will appear at the first Dinner Date.
Tickets are £3.
Mr Drayton’s Dinner Date is at the Newcastle Stand on Saturday 31 August (1pm). Book your table via The Stand’s website.
