Campbell, Cook and Ramsey front Newcastle Comedy Festival line-up.
Craig Campbell, Jason Cook and Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Chris Ramsey front the line-up for this year’s Newcastle Comedy Festival, Giggle Beats can reveal.
Cook and Ramsey, who both star in upcoming BBC2 series Hebburn, will team up for a double header at Gateshead Town Hall on Friday 27th; while Canadian stand-up Campbell, who heads to the Fringe with Stewart Francis and Glenn Wool this summer for their first show together in 15 years, will close the festival on Sunday 29th July at The Sage, Gateshead.
All in all, over 37 comedians, including the likes of Show Me The Funny winner Patrick Monahan, Simon Munnery and former Comedy Award winner Phil Nichol, are set to perform across seven venues on Tyneside between Friday 20th July and Sunday 29th July.
Festival organiser John Smith told Giggle Beats: “The Newcastle Comedy Festival runs the week before the Fringe, so it’s the perfect time to cherry pick the best acts to preview their new shows before they debut them in Edinburgh a few days later.
Smith added: “We’ve carefully selected the best local performers alongside top acts with an established pedigree at the festival; so there’s a very good chance you could see one of the top award winners without having to leave the North-East.”
Year on year the Newcastle Comedy Festival attracts some of the world’s most established comedians keen to hone their material before the Edinburgh Fringe; and this year’s festival no different.
