North East favourite Lee Kyle will headline Giggle Beats’ final comedy quiz of the year – and Yule be a fool to miss it!

The Geordie comedian will stuff your stockings with laughs at our Christmas quiz upstairs at The Hancock pub in Newcastle on Monday 2 December.

Fresh from a month-long run at the 2013 Edinburgh Fringe, Lee will round off the comedy quiz with a special stand-up set.

He said: “It was nice to be asked to do a set at the Giggle Beats Comedy Quiz – I was at the very first quiz at The Hancock and it was good fun.

“I do love quizzes and would definitely win if I entered it – but I’ll give you lot a chance and just tell some jokes instead.”

Lee has been performing stand-up for four years now, having first got on stage at an open-mic night in Newcastle.

“My first gig was upstairs at the King’s Manor pub in November 2009,” Lee explained.

“I had about 20 friends along and it didn’t occur to me until about a minute before I went on that I might be crap.  I talked quickly and got by on adrenaline.

“My act has changed a lot since then, and people seem to like my current material – I do stuff about flags, and it’s usually funnier than that sounds.”

Kyle cites double act Lee and Herring as a major influence on his act, but also points the finger at Frank Sidebottom for getting him on stage for the first time.

“Lee and Herring made me want to try stand-up, but I loved Frank Sidebottom too; a maverick who infiltrated the mainstream for a while and a brilliant act with a home-made ethos I think I share.”

Four years after his debut, Lee now performs at some of the UK’s top comedy venues including The Grinning Idiot and The Stand Comedy Club in Newcastle.

He also hosts the comedy podcast Lee Kyle’s 21 Questions, available to download from iTunes and gigglebeats.co.uk.

The Giggle Beats Comedy Quiz takes place upstairs at The Hancock on Monday 2 December.

Sponsors The Stand Comedy Club and the Comedy Advertising Network provide the prizes – including a £25 bar tab, comedy tickets, DVDs and loads more.

Doors open at 7.30pm, and the quiz starts at 8pm.

Entry is £2.
