North East comedian Gavin Webster is releasing a stand-up comedy CD – based on his weekly residency at the Newcastle Stand.

The upsurge in small screen comedy has meant that fans no longer need to leave the house to watch their favourite acts.

And Webster, who has previously made material available on his website, has decided to get in on the act by self-releasing his first comedy CD, Gavin Webster – Northumbrian Assembly Volume 1.

He said: “The reason I wanted to do a CD is because I wanted to have a record of my work – the stuff that I tend not to do live. The short burst songs, the monologues, the sketches – basically the stuff I do on a Sunday night at The Stand that I can’t do on the mainstream circuit.

“I’m calling it Volume 1 because there’ll be more where that came from. No-one will miss out on my more experimental funnies down the years as a result of me now releasing CDs”.

The CD is being released at a launch party on Sunday 16th December, featuring live stand up from Webster, Viz co-creator Simon Donald and Simon Buglass, as well as bingo, a comedy quiz and a meat draw. However the album will also be available to purchase on his website and via iTunes.

Gavin Webster’s Northumbrian Assembly is on at the Newcastle Stand every Sunday night.
