Lost Voice Guy will headline the Giggle Beats Comedy Quiz when it returns to The Stand Comedy Club, Newcastle, on Sunday 2 February.

Described by Matt Lucas as “a wonderful comedian”, Lost Voice Guy – real name Lee Ridley – is one of the most talked about acts in comedy.

Diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a child, Ridley performs stand-up using an iPad and is the first comedian to use a communication aid on stage.

His material is profoundly positive: if someone with no voice can become a successful stand-up, then anyone can achieve anything if they put their mind to it.

Speaking ahead of the night, Ridley said he was looking forward to performing at the Giggle Beats Comedy Quiz.

He said: “I love performing at The Stand, I love Giggle Beats and I’ve loved quizzes ever since my nana forced me to watch Going For Gold every afternoon when I was younger – so it should be fun to combine the three!”

Since making his debut two years ago, Ridley has performed all over the UK at venues including The Stand, Jongleurs, The Frog and Bucket, The Glee Club and The Comedy Store.

A recent article in The Guardian praised his comedy stylings, commenting that Lee finds humour in the strangest of places.

His unique act has also been featured on the BBC, CNN, The Sun and The Mail on Sunday.

Giggle Beats editor Andrew Dipper said: “I’m absolutely delighted Lee has agreed to headline the Giggle Beats Comedy Quiz in February.

“It will be his first appearance at The Stand in 2014, and I’m sure he’ll be a great addition to the night.”

Doors open at 6.30pm, and the quiz starts at 7pm.

Tickets are £2.
