John Bishop appears at Leeds book reading for Alder Hey appeal
John Bishop will read from his recently-published autobiography in Leeds on Sunday, with all profits going to the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
Bishop will appear at City Varieties Music Hall, Leeds to read from How Did All This Happen, which was released last month, in which he describes growing up on a council estate dreaming of ousting Kenny Dalglish from Liverpool FC’s starting line-up, and finding himself on stage in front of thousands of people nationwide.
Ian Sime, the General Manager of the City Varities, said: “John is a regular to the City Varieties; he comes to us with his successful warm-up gigs ahead of his Arena tours, so we’re delighted to welcome him back to the theatre for a slightly different event.”
Books will be available to purchase on the day, and Bishop will be signing copies after the event.
The event is to raise money for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, based in Bishop’s home city, Liverpool, which has recently launched a major appeal to raise £30m for life-saving medical equipment, arts and play activities and funding for vital research.
Bishop will also read from his autobiography at similar events in at the Lancaster Grand (also 10 Nov) and The Gaiety, Isle of Man (15 Nov).
Tickets are £15.60.
