Hebburn series two: Chris Ramsey confirms filming dates
Filming for series two of Hebburn will begin on Tuesday 13 August, lead Chris Ramsey has confirmed.
Ramsey, who plays Jack Pearson in the award-winning comedy, revealed the news to his fans on Twitter today.
And in less than a fortnight the cast, which also includes Jim Moir, Kimberley Nixon, Neil Grainger and Steffen Peddie – will re-unite on location for a second installment of the BBC2 sitcom.
The supporting cast of Pat Dunn, creator Jason Cook and Victoria Elliott will also return as Granny Dot, Ramsey and Denise respectively.
The first series, which was directed by Christine Gernon and produced by Gill Isles, was shot on location in Hebburn and in studios at MediaCityUK in Salford.
Series two will follow the same pattern, with filming expected to be completed by mid-September.
Speaking earlier this year, Cook spoke of his delight at securing a second series.
He said: “There was always a longer storyline in my mind for the characters, and during filming of the first series I had a chance to start writing more about them.
“Once the actors brought them to life, it was easier to start putting those ideas onto paper.
“The cast all did such a great job with the first series, I could write for them for the rest of my life.”
Series two will also include a Christmas special, which Cook describes as the “icing on the cake.”
Teasing the upcoming series, the Hebburn creator confirmed two new characters, as well as news that someone in the current cast is to change jobs.
Fans of the cult comedy will also find out what Winnie did.
“There’s going to be two new characters, one of the characters is going to change profession, one of the characters will have a mountain to climb, and in the Christmas special you’ll find out what Winnie did.”
Series two will air in the autumn.
