Gein’s Family Giftshop to return to radio
Gein’s Family Giftshop are to return to radio with a second series of their BBC Radio Wales show.
The sketch group will record a further three half-hour specials, to air this autumn.
The first series of the group’s show aired last summer, and saw Gein’s stranded on an island, investigating a murder and attempting to prove the existence of ghosts.
Gein’s – which comprises of Kath Hughes, James Meehan and Edward Easton and writer Kiri Pritchard-McLean – will pen and star in the new series, produced by Rubber Chicken.
Gein’s Family Giftshop told Chortle: “We’re so glad that the gullible, capable idiots at Rubber Chicken have hoodwinked the relentlessly supportive people at BBC Radio Wales, yet again.
“We loved making our three specials last time and recording them at our old university was the perfect way to ensure our audience were allowed to drink and smoke inside.
“We’re looking forward to more emails from compliance about the words “spaff” and “gypsy” and just generally squandering the licence fee before the Tories kill off the BBC entirely, just as soon as they’ve finished getting through all those disabled people.”
The new series will be recorded at The Robert Powell Theatre at Salford University on 22 June. Tickets for the recording are free and available here.
