EXCLUSIVE: BBC developing new panel show for Richard Herring…
The BBC is developing a new panel show hosted by Richard Herring, Giggle Beats can exclusively reveal.
Richard Herring’s Puzzled pits two teams of comedians against each other to solve a series of tea-break teasers; clueless crosswords, senseless word searches, and a spot the difference with a difference. There may even be a Sudoku round.
The format itself is borrowed from spoof panel show Fuckwits, which was developed by former Viz co-editor Alex Collier. Earlier this year Fuckwits enjoyed a three month residency at the Newcastle Stand, with Simon Donald hosting the ‘world’s most clueless gameshow.’
Speaking at the time, Viz co-founder Donald said: “The show came about through my old mate from Viz, Alex Collier, pissing around with his Facebook account.
“He started to put blank crossword puzzles online and asked his friends to fill them in without any kind of clues. Everybody just twatted about and it ended up being hilarious, and also quite challenging. That shambolic idea is at the heart of this show, with some variations in the rounds.”
Richard Herring’s Puzzled is currently in development by BBC Comedy and will debut at the Edinburgh Fringe this Saturday, with a view to a full series.
