Entries are now open for the annual COFILMIC Comedy Film Festival, with people invited to send in their short comedy films of between 5-7 minutes for the chance to win cash prizes and exclusive one-to-one meetings with leading experts from the comedy industry.

The festival will once again be held at The Comedy Store in Manchester on 28 and 29 October 2014, and alongside the competition will offer a host of industry events and discussions, live comedy, screenings of the shortlisted films and the COFILMIC Awards ceremony.

There are three categories for people to submit films in this year:

  • Comedy Short Film (maximum length 7 mins)
  • Comedy Sketch (maximum length 5 mins)
  • Sitcom Pilot or Web Series Pilot (maximum length 7 mins)

The deadline for submissions is 12pm noon on 30 September 2014; times must include credits and a £10.00 entry fee applies.

Prizes will be announced shortly, but will again include a mix of cash prizes and one-to-one meetings with leading industry experts.

Janet Harrison, founder of COFILMIC, said: “We’ve been so impressed with the quality of films we’ve received since we launched and I look forward to seeing what submissions we get this year.”

COFILMIC was launched in 2010 by Janet Harrison with the aim of nurturing new comedy talent through industry events, showcases, partnerships and competitions.

Judges have included BAFTA winning producer Charlie Hanson, Baby Cow Productions co-founder Henry Normal and BBC Comedy commissioner Kristian Smith, and participants have gone on to have projects commissioned, scripts optioned and landed acting roles.
