Comics to spend a night in front of the telly for Gogglebox
Several comedians including Lee Mack and Miranda Hart are to take part in a special episode of Channel 4 series Gogglebox.
Part of Channel 4’s week of Stand Up To Cancer programming, the celebrity edition of Gogglebox will also include guests such as Jamie Dornan, Nick Frost, Boy George and Geri Halliwell.
Hart will take to the sofa with the two mothers in her life; sitcom mother Patricia Hodge and her real mother Diana, while Lee Mack will cosy up with his onscreen Not Going Out family, including Bobby Ball.
The Gogglebox special will form part of a wider season of Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) programming on Channel 4. Programming also includes special editions of Chatty Man with guests including Sue Perkins and Jonathan Ross, and The Last Leg.
SU2C is a joint national fundraising campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4 designed to accelerate new cancer treatments and tests to UK patients and ultimately save more lives. SU2C launched in the UK in 2012 and has already raised over £23.8m.
Ed Havard, Channel 4’s Head of Live Events said, “The success of the partnership between C4 and CRUK on Stand Up To Cancer has been remarkable and we have raised many millions of pounds to fund ground breaking cancer trials. We are hugely grateful to all the talent and production companies involved in this campaign and of course to the public who have donated so generously.”
