Comedy Survey 2013: Have your say

Decrease Font Size Increase Font Size Text Size Print This Page

Help the UK comedy industry answer a few questions and be in with a chance of winning stand-up tickets.

British comedy is booming right now. Rarely a week goes by without some newspaper article popping up to point out how much the industry has grown; how tickets to stand-up arena shows are flying off the digital shelves; or how many millions Peter Kay is sticking in the bank this week.

However, despite all the success, there’s no central body overseeing ‘the funny’ – no-one collating information about audience tastes, habits, successes and failures – so there are plenty of unknowns about the comedy industry in Britain.

Who is the country’s favourite comedian? How long should YouTube sketches be? What could comedy-related websites (like this one!) do better? How could live comedy venues improve? How many DVDs do people own, on average? How important is iPlayer for launching new sitcoms?

We can have a guess at what the answers to the above are, but no one actually knows. Yet. The first major survey of its kind has now been launched, aiming to help shape and influence the industry by answering many of the above questions – and more.

Could you give up just 5 minutes of your time to complete the survey? Organisers, from a collective of British comedy websites including Giggle Beats, have secured a range of tickets to big-name tours, which all participants will have a chance of winning.

Greg Davies – The Back Of My Mum’s Head: Star of BAFTA award-winning The Inbetweeners and BBC Three‘s Cuckoo, much-loved towering beacon of comedy Greg Davies is now one of the most successful stand-ups in the UK. Following a sold-out 2012 tour and due to popular demand, Greg’s critically-acclaimed and riotously funny show, The Back Of My Mum’s Head, comes to a venue near you later this year.
