Cofilmic Comedy Film Festival

Comedy film festival Cofilmic is now open for submissions. Hopefuls can log on to the Cofilmic website, follow the step-by-step submission process and upload their film. The team behind the Festival have also created a video featuring Slaughterhouse Live to further explain the process and submissions will remain open until the end of September.

Cofilmic offers budding filmmakers, producers, actors and everyone in between the opportunity to have their work seen by a panel of industry judges, as well as putting themselves in with a chance of winning prizes, too. The festival itself will run from 31st October – 1st November 2011 at The Comedy Store in Manchester, who are partners of the event, and as well as the competition the event will offer workshops, panel discussions and networking opportunities.

So far, the list of judges and associates of the festival includes BAFTA winning producer Charlie Hanson, Baby Cow’s Henry Normal, East is East producer Leslee Udwin, Mofilm managing director Andy Baker, The Comedy Store founder Don Ward, commissioning editor at Dave TV Steve North and BBC executive editor Kristian Smith.

Janet Harrison, founder of Cofilmic, made her first short film in 2010 and was alarmed by the lack of support organizations or a dedicated comedy film festival, despite the rich heritage of comedy in the North West. This inspired her to look at how she could collaborate with comedy and film professionals throughout the UK and beyond.

People wishing to submit a film for Colfilmic 2011 can do so by visiting their website here.
