Big Mouth Comedy Club are to add two new venues to its portfolio from next month, making it the North East’s biggest comedy club.

The comedy club, ran by Teesside promoters Ten Feet Tall, have announced two new monthly shows in Redcar and Guisborough under the Big Mouth umbrella, joining its long running gigs at Middlesbrough Town Hall.

Shows at Redcar’s Coatham Memorial Hall – which begin 4 April – include performances from Hebburn creator Jason Cook (pictured), Dave Johns and Rob Deering.

While the likes of Andrew Ryan and Matt Reed will compere shows at Guisborough Quoit Club every first Friday of the month.

Elsewhere, Ten Feet Tall are rebranding Saltburn’s popular Brass Neck Comedy Club – which will also be known as Big Mouth Comedy Club from March.

Carmel Ramsay, of Big Mouth Comedy, said: “Our gigs in Boro and Saltburn both often sell-out in advance and always go down a storm, and we’ve constantly had people asking us to bring Big Mouth to different places here and there.

“But we’ve always wanted to wait until we’ve found the right venues really.

“Coatham Memorial Hall is one of the best rooms we’ve seen in ages. Really atmospheric, loads of wood paneling and memorabilia, and a great big stage that the comics are going to love.

“Same with the Quoit Club in Guisborough. It’s the perfect room for Big Mouth, and it’s all just a heartbeat away from the High Street.”

Frankie Wales, of Coatham Memorial Hall, said: “We’re really looking forward to this. I’m a huge comedy fan, and always thought it would be great to set something up here.”

Tickets for Big Mouth Comedy Club’s new Friday night gigs (4 April, 2 May and 6 June) go on sale at 10am tomorrow, priced £5.
