The Ideal star will headline our next quiz night at The Stand on Sunday 1 June.

Ideal star Ben Crompton will headline the Giggle Beats Comedy Quiz when it returns in June.

Crompton will round off the show – which combines stand-up with a traditional pub quiz format – when it returns to The Stand Comedy Club on Sunday 1 June.

Ben joins quizmaster Lee Kyle, who hosts the show every first Sunday at the High Bridge venue.

Giggle Beats Editor Andrew Dipper said: “I’ve been a huge fan of Ben’s work ever since he turned up as Colin in Johnny Vegas’ sitcom Ideal.

“Now he’s turned his hand to stand-up Ben’s proving he’s just as skilled on stage as he is on set.”

Initially trained as an actor, Crompton has come a long way since he started out as a performer on a German tour of Les Miserables.

The Mancunian came to prominence in 2005 when he turned up as the light-fingered scally Colin in Johnny Vegas comedy Ideal. He spent seven years in the role before the sitcom ended in 2012.

Now an established name in comedy, Crompton has tons of TV credits to his name, most recently in BBC Three sitcom Pramface.

But Crompton’s most high-profile appearance to date has come in global hit Game of Thrones as Eddison Tollett, a member of the Night’s Watch.

Crompton, a guest star on the show, continues his role in tonight’s episode on Sky Atlantic.

Tickets for the Giggle Beats Comedy Quiz are £3, with prizes including a three-course meal for two at The Stand bistro, tickets to the best comedy shows in Newcastle, comedy merchandise courtesy of Ideal makers Baby Cow Productions, and more.

Doors open at 6.30pm and the quiz starts at 7pm.
