Preview: Sheffield Student Comedy Festival 2011
This February will see the UK’s only dedicated student comedy festival return for a third year.
Organised by Sheffield Uni’s very own improve group The Shrimps, the festival has been conceived in a bid to bring together as much of the fantastic comedy happening across Universities nationwide and raise a bit of money for charity.
‘We really want to try and get a circuit of student comedy running, so with this we’re trying to make it bit of a hub and get everyone involved together’, said event organiser Peter Antoniou.
The festival will run over three days and three venues, culminating on the Sunday evening with the Sheffield heat of the Chortle Student Comedy Award 2011 competition.
Acts currently confirmed on the bill include sketch groups WitTank, The Leeds Tealights, Sheffield’s very own improv group The Shrimps as well as stand-up from Max Dickins, with many more acts to be confirmed.
The festival is a charity event with proceedings going towards Comic Relief. Tickets are priced £6 per day or £10 for a weekend pass.
The Sheffield Student Comedy Festival takes place 25th-27th February 2011. For more information on the festival or tickets please email [email protected].
