Preview: Lewis Schaffer – Free Until Famous
Following the success of his Free Until Famous show earlier in the year in Jesmond, Lewis Schaffer returns to the North East this weekend for performances at the Corner House in Newcastle (Friday 4th) and The Barnes in Sunderland (Saturday 5th). Schaffer is one of many American imports working the UK circuit today, but the New Yorker is a master of the stage and his act has courted much critical praise, especially from Giggle Beats.
Our reviewer Fiona Heydari commented that Schaffer’s act was ‘clever and highly observant about society and its make-up. His set was organised chaos and completely endearing’, whilst Chortle thought that he was ‘A brash, opinionated Jewish New Yorker bitching about the world in punchy, acerbic one-liners, while subtly revealing his own failings’.
The show begins at 8.30, however doors open an hour earlier if you fancy a few drinks beforehand. But do you want to hear the best part? It’s absolutely free. If you’d like to see Lewis Schaffer in Newcastle or Sunderland, all you have to do to reserve your seats is contact John Smith at [email protected].
