Drayton: The Funniest Thing Ever

It’s completely subjective of course, but I have to announce that Bob’s Bollock is the greatest single comedy moment ever. It gets me every time.

I once watched it seven times in a row. At each golden moment when Bob’s bollock appeared I crackled with sheer joyous laughter. Laughter that comes from your gut, laughter that you think has finished and when you take a breath, and it hasn’t. Tears and snot, breathless absolute joy.

It’s Bob Mortimer being Ray Mears from Shooting Stars. You can see it here:

It’s not great quality, but you’ll get the bollock.

There’s nothing big or clever about it, it’s just Bob and a testicle. The testicle was an old tight with some mud in it, which makes it even better. It takes genius to turn mud and nylon into a gag, into the energy of laughter.

What’s even better, for me, is that I know about the tights and the mud because I asked Bob Mortimer about it and he told me. That was nice.
