Review: Beat The Gong With MC Danny McLoughlin – Stockton Arc
Having took a short break from presenting regular club nights in the North East, Stockton Arc and Catch 22 held a special and rare gong show featuring 11 comedy hopefuls, all looking to go home with the £100 prize on this cold and increasingly dark October night. If, like myself previous to this particular evening […]
Review: Tony Basnett, Kahn Johnson and Kevin Wilkinson – The Clarendon, Hartlepool
As a special one off event for Trapdoor Comedy, Tony Basnett presented a preview for the two night run he and Kahn Johnson will be performing at the Manchester Comedy Festival later this month at their Hartlepool venue The Clarendon. As an addition to the regular club night ran here on the first Saturday of […]
Preview: Whitley Bay Playhouse Comedy Listings
The newly refurbished Playhouse is centred in right in the middle of Whitley Bay’s culture section just off Spanish city and the coast, the theatre itself is a lovely, spacious, modern venue seating around 600 and has hosted many comedy nights since its rebirth from newer, more cutting edge and thought provoking comics such as Chris Addison and Jim Jefferies to old favourites such as Jethro and Ken Dodd.

Review: Matt Kirshen, Chris Stokes, Nick Helm and Steffen Peddie – Middlesbrough Town Hall
It is an understatement to say that Ten Feet Tall Comedy is responsible for bringing the best comedy clubs and nights to Teesside. It is an oversight to think you can predict a lively Saturday night Middlesbrough audience. These are the two things I have learned at tonight’s gig.
Review: Rob Rouse, El Purnell, Paul Sinha and Matt Reed – Stockton Arc
Any gig that kicks off by boldly welcoming the compere to the stage accompanied by the instantly recognisable opening guitar strains of the Guns ‘N’ Roses hit Welcome To The Jungle complete with strobe lighting effects has a lot to live up to in the comedy department.
Review: The Boy With Tape On His Face and Jason Cook – Stockton Arc
After the impressive reviews and word of mouth recommendations relatively unknown act ‘The Boy With Tape On His Face’ received during last month’s Edinburgh festival I jumped at the opportunity to catch him performing at Teesside’s most famous comedy club.
