First Look: Harry Hill’s Beano
Harry Hill has guest edited a special Comic Relief edition of The Beano – and Giggle Beats have been given a sneak peek at the results.
Alongside Nigel Parkinson, Hill has co-written the main storyline for the magazine’s Dennis the Menace strip, and also written some of his own comic strips.
The ‘TV Burp’ star has certainly been hands on with ‘The Bald Issue’, which sees Dennis the Menace losing his famous spikes for the first time in history.
This special edition includes a series of mini-strips featuring the comedian himself, who is currently on his Sausage Time stand-up tour.
One section sees Harry go back to school – Bash Street, that is! – where he and his comedian mates (including Jimmy Carr, Michael McIntyre and The Chuckle Brothers) are captured as their young selves by artist Dave Sutherland, who’s been illustrating Britain’s worst behaved classroom since the sixties.
Harry also directs Minnie the Minx in an orchestrated head shaving campaign, which sees Richard Hammond, Jeremy Clarkson and James May, political leaders and even the Queen entering into the spirit of his vision for a totally bald Britain.
Look out for a cracking editor’s letter too, as well as a Harry Hill disguise kit for readers to wear while they put on comedy shows for friends and family – and tips on how they perform as well as a selection of his jokes to tell.
Hill is only the second outsider to guest edit the comic – following on from Wallace & Gromit creator, Nick Park.
Harry Hill’s Beano is out today.
And thanks to Harry and the Comic Relief team, we’re giving away a signed copy of the special edition comic.
Simply answer this question: Harry Hill is just the second ever guest editor of The Beano – but who was the first?
Send your responses to [email protected] by Friday 15 March – Red Nose Day! – to be in with a chance of winning.
