Alun Cochrane’s Fun House has been given a series by Radio 4, the BBC has confirmed.

The six-part show, where Cochrane takes you on a stand-up tour of his house, will be recorded on 6, 13 and 26 March at MediaCityUK, Salford.

The BBC’s blurb for Fun House reads: “Comedian Alun Cochrane has a 25 year mortgage which he can only pay off by being funny.

“In this series he takes us on a room by room, stand up tour of his house.

“He has a fridge that beeps at him when he doesn’t move quickly enough and a fire alarm he can’t reach.”

It continues: “His relationship with his house is a complicated one.

“A hoarder of funny and original observations on everyday life, Alun invites us to help him de-clutter his mind and tidy his ideas into one of those bags that you hoover all the air out of and keep under your bed.

“This show will help Alun and his house work through their relationship issues and prevent a separation that Alun can ill afford; at least not until the market picks up anyway.”

Speaking about the series, Cochrane said: “I would love to have people who like what I do come along to the recordings of it (rather than people staring at it thinking, ‘Why is he still talking about this?’, which is a constant risk I run).”

“If you live in Salford or Manchester this would be ideal for you.”

“If you live further away than that I probably wouldn’t bother applying as the best 28 minutes of it should end up on Radio 4 anyway.”

He added: “We only need 80 people for 3 recording nights and I am led to believe even I can pull that crowd.”

Radio 4 have also commissioned a second, six-part series of Can’t Tell Nathan Caton Nothin’ and a pilot for double-act Peacock & Gamble.
