Silent comic Lee Ridley is once again fundraising for Comic Relief – by dressing up as a woman.

In 2011 Ridley, who uses transcription software to perform stand-up, raised £600 for the charity by changing his ‘voice’ to a cross between Micky Mouse and Michael Jackson.

Two years on he’s fundraising again, this time transforming his stage act Lost Voice Guy into…Lost Voice Girl.

Ridley wrote on his blog: “Lost Voice Guy is becoming Lost Voice Girl for Comic Relief.

“As if I didn’t look weird enough already, I’ll be dressing up as a lady and putting on my best woman’s voice to perform as Lost Voice Girl at my gigs at The [Newcastle] Stand on Sunday 10 March and at the final of the BBC’s Stand Up If You Dare competition at Northumbria University Students’ Union on Monday 11 March.

“I might even throw a period joke in for good measure…I won’t.”

Ridley plans to raise £300 for Comic Relief, but a number of other comics are chipping in to raise money for the charity.

Mitch Benn plans to write and release a comedy album within a 24-hour period.

Eight comedians, including Ed Byrne and Andi Osho, are taking part in a special edition of BBC One’s daytime quiz Pointless on Saturday 2 March.

And to mark 25 years of Red Nose Day, Mark Watson is performing a 25-hour stand-up show – with a number of celebrity cameos to help him along the way.
