Newcastle Stand re-launch free ticket initiative for local residents
The Newcastle Stand today re-launched their free ticket initiative for local comedy fans.
Tyneside’s first ever purpose-built comedy venue opened in October 2011, and as part of a registration drive offered North East residents the chance to see a show completely free of charge.
And the club, which recently celebrated its first birthday, today resumed the scheme for residents who haven’t already signed up to their mailing list.
It’s as simple as visiting the Newcastle Stand website, filling in your email address and postcode, and then picking the show you want to attend.
The initiative coincides with the unveiling of a blockbuster 2013 programme.
Andrew Lawrence, John Moloney, Lucy Porter, Simon Munnery and Tom Stade have all been signed up to play the High Bridge venue – and that’s just in the next month.
The likes of Mark Thomas, Tony Law, Seann Walsh and Josh Widdombe will take the Newcastle Stand well into the spring.
Monthly residencies for The Suggestibles, Simon Donald’s Fuckwits, Gavin Webster’s Northumbrian Assembly and Steffen Peddie’s Chat Show Thing will also continue well into 2013, as the club continues to back North East talent.
Stand director Tommy Sheppard said: “The Stand Newcastle is about more than just the big names.
“In 2013 we will be putting a lot of time and energy into developing new talent and helping the next generation of comics get started.
“Our famous Red Raw night every Wednesday has become a mecca for newcomers, with ten acts for only two pounds, and the odd headline act turning up to try out new material.
“And every Thursday, Friday and Saturday there’s primetime stand-up with five professional acts from the UK and international circuits in a two hour show.”
Sheppard added: “Our first full calendar year featured some of the biggest names in comedy, and once again it’s a who’s who in the world of making people laugh.”
