Peep Show: Best Bits…

The excellent Peep Show returns tomorrow night for its eighth series. The programme might have slowed down over the past few years, but it can still be relied upon to produce at least a few pained, bum-clenching laughs. After all, Jez and Mark are the most out of touch, embarrassing humans on the planet…with the exception of Jedward and Bruce Forsyth.

To celebrate its return, we’ve picked out our top seven moments from the last seven series as a little gift to you.

1. “And then I go and spoil it all…”

Thanks to some ‘useful’ advice from Jez (and the God of TV), Mark decides to phone Sophie and ends up leaving the most EXCRUCIATING phone message of all time. Truly wince-inducing television.

2. “Take a Leghorn, they’ve got a nice floaty launch with a soft, crunchy landing.”

Sophie convinces Mark to take Class A drugs in a club. Of course, he fakes it then has to pretend to be on ecstasy for the rest of the evening…and he’s predictably terrible at acting: “it’s like I’m trapped inside a giant Aero.”

3. “Got to be really careful. Don’t want to get the job, don’t want to piss off the land baron.”

Perennially workshy Jez is forced to go along to a job interview by Mark. He doesn’t want to be under Mark’s thumb so he does his level best to mess the interview up: “Barbara, how much washing up do you think you could do without any washing up liquid?”

4. “This is bullshit.”

Super Hans really doesn’t like confined spaces…

5. “No, I’m not getting married. The coin isn’t actually the boss of me, Jeremy.”

Mark hides in a church and contemplates jilting Sophie at the altar, while Jez contemplates pissing himself. Then does.

6. “I love hobos. Always have, always will.”

Jez pretends to be a Christian charity worker to impress Nancy. Says it all, really.

7. “I’m literally going to die. What an idiotic boob I was about ten or eleven seconds ago”

People who look like a giant hamster probably shouldn’t try and take up jogging, as Mark finds out pretty quickly when he gives it a bash in series three.

Peep Show returns to Channel 4 tomorrow at 10pm.
