Hebburn star Steffen Peddie is to host a new monthly chat show at the Newcastle Stand.

Peddie, who plays Big Keith in the BBC2 sitcom, announced the news on his Facebook page last night, saying: “I’ve just agreed on a new project. Hosting a new monthly show at The Stand Comedy Club in Newcastle. Steffen Peddie’s Chat Show Thing.”

And this morning he told Giggle Beats: “I’ve wanted to do this kind of thing for 15 years. It’s going to be a live chat show, but with no cameras and no restrictions.

“It’s basically about getting the audience to pull up a chair and listen to the backstage chat that audiences don’t normally get to hear. If you come along you’ll have a chance to put questions to the guests yourself, and you might even win a prize from the Table of Tat.”

The first show takes place on Monday 17th December at the High Bridge venue, with Hebburn creator Jason Cook making an appearance. However more guests will be announced nearer the time, as Peddie aims to add some local celebrities to the line-up.

“I’m not just looking for comedians,” he said. “We’re after people who are a bit interesting, as well as hopefully getting a few local celebrities involved; we want some variety on the show so it’s not just your bog-standard night.”

He added: “I want to do something that’s not only a good night out, but also a cheap night out. At £3 a ticket you can’t really go wrong – that’s less than a pint.”
