A Newcastle University student has launched a new smart phone app to find live comedy near you.

Drawing inspiration from other mobile applications promoting the best restaurants, bars and shows, James Pringle has created Laugh Louder, an app that enables users to search, find and book tickets for live comedy.

As well as the main search option, the app also profiles stand-ups – who you can then add to your ‘Favourites’ area – and includes an integrated map for fans to find venues.

Pringle, a final year Business Management student, said: “I started Laugh Louder as I couldn’t easily find live comedy using my iPhone. It was a real pain to find shows using a search engine, and I thought there was a better way of doing it.

“The first step was getting my partner, Chris Quaile, on board. Myself and Chris went to school together. He’s performed at and run a lot of gigs himself so knows the industry well.”

James then found a London-based developer to build the app, before launching Laugh Louder nationwide last month.

He added: “I’m really aiming to provide a service that is not only good for comedy fans, but promoters, comedians and venues too. Hopefully we can do that.”
