North East premiere for Hebburn
North East comedy fans will have the opportunity to see BBC2 sitcom Hebburn a week before the rest of the world – at a special preview screening of the show in Stockton.
The much anticipated series – starring Vic Reeves, Chris Ramsey and creator Jason Cook – debuts on Thursday 18th October at 10pm.
However yesterday morning Cook announced to his mailing list that fans will be able to see the first two episodes a week early at the ARC theatre in Stockton. The Hebburn cast and executive producers Matt Tiller and Henry Normal will also be present for a brief question and answer session about the series.
The six-part series, which also stars Fresh Meat’s Kimberley Nixon and comedian Steffen Peddie, tells the story of the Pearson family and their son Jack (Ramsey).
After secretly marrying Jewish girl Sarah (Nixon), Jack reluctantly introduces her to his parents, Tony (Reeves) and Pauline (Gina McKee). The first episode takes off from there.
Cook said: “There is a very particular sense of humour in the Geordies. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, and we have a way of handling bad news – maybe because we get a lot of it – so I’m hoping to show the nation that with Hebburn.
“We’ve had such a great team working on the show, and I’ve worked with some of my comedy heroes, too; so the pressure is on to not let them, or the people of the North East, down.”
He added: “I just hope people like it. It shows the good and bad of the Geordie people. It’s a proper rollercoaster, but everyone who has seen it so far, like friends and family, have loved it.”
Hebburn airs on Thursday 18th October at 10pm, with the dial set to BBC2. Watch the trailer here:
